The Marlin Spike

Monday, May 16th, 2011

The members of Stoneybatter Band can often be found playing tunes at John Stone’s Public House in Ashland, MA. Here is half the band working out a new set of tunes late one evening. The first tune is one that Greg wrote called The Marlin Spike. The other two are tunes Jim dug up and I’d tell ya the name of ‘em if I could remember ‘em.

St. Patrick’s Day Music

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

Get out your green river dye and your big goofy green leprechaun hat, St. Patrick’s Day is here. Oh, and if your looking for a place where you can order a real pint that hasn’t been chemically altered to look like radiator fluid, come on down to John Stone’s in Ashland. The Stoneybatter Band will be playing traditional Irish music both Thursday evening (4-11pm) and an encore performance on Friday evening (8-11pm).

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Video from Club Passim

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

My friend Tracy captured this video of us from the front row of Club Passim on her iPhone during the 2011 BCMFest. Gotta luv the iPhone. Thanks Tracy. Next time I’ll have to get Joey to pay her more so that he gets a bit more air time.

We’re playing a set we call Kick the Cat.

Friday at Fiddlers…

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Fresh off all the fun at BCM Fest, Stoneybatter Band is back this Friday evening at Fiddler’s Green in Worcester, MA. Come join us, we’ll be showing off our newly inked, matching BCM Fest tattoos and, generally, just having a good time playing tunes and singing songs.

Show starts somewhere between 8 and 9pm. I’d tell you exactly when, except nobody, including Fiddlers, seems to really know. Such is life.

See you there!

BCMFest is now a memory

Monday, January 10th, 2011

First, we would like to thank all our friends who came out to watch us at BCMFest at Club Passim. It was great seeing so many people there supporting us. We would also like to thank all those that checked us out over concertwindow.com and sent us emails or posted to us on facebook. We really had a great time.

We also would like to thank the BCMFest organizers for having us, the Club Passim sound engineer and the stage manager for making everything run so smoothly. I’d also like to personally thank the beer guy, who, despite being supremely busy, poured me the tastiest brew the moment I asked for one just after our show.

Lastly, thanks to Brian O’Donovan for the after hours festivites.

We hope to do it again next year!

We were happy to get the call from the Boston Celtic Music Festival organizers the other day letting us know that they would like us to play. At the moment they have us scheduled to perform on Saturday, January 8th from 2:30-3:15 on the Club Passim stage. This is exciting news as Club Passim is a historic folk music club in Cambridge, MA.

We are really looking forward to this event!

Worcester Irish Music Fest…

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Well … the Worcester Irish Music Festival has come and gone. The weather wasn’t what we hoped for, but we made the best of it. Fortunately, the festival takes place under an enormous tent and all were protected from the elements.

We started the festivities on Saturday with an hour and a half of jigs, reels, hornpipes, songs, slides, more songs, more reels and more jigs. The crowd, although sparse due to our early time slot, was receptive. Overall, we had a really nice time and hope to get the opportunity to do it again.
